The MPUC then ordered that all customers have retail access to electricity suppliers by 2000. The now deregulated electricity market in Maine is structured with 3 utilities: Bangor Hydro Electric Company (BHE), Central Maine Power (CMP) and Maine Public Service. Customers of these utilities can now choose their electricity supplier.
