Reduce your carbon footprint

It can be easy to forget that everyday activities have lasting impacts on the environment. At BidURenergy (BUE), we strive to help our customers lessen their impact on the environment by decreasing their energy usage and employing green sourced generation when possible. To see the impact your facility has, simply calculate what is known as your “carbon footprint”—the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) released into the atmosphere due to the consumption of fossil fuels. Many easy-to-use online tools are available that accurately measure your footprint (EPA Carbon Calculator). CO2 and other greenhouse gases trap heat, which drastically affects our climate!

Keeping track of your facility’s CO2 emissions is the first step towards improvement. BUE has eagerly promoted the cause by giving dozens of free SMARTmeters to qualified clients, stopping countless metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere while simultaneously saving our clients substantial amounts of money. There are many other ways to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, including:
•    turning off lights and other appliances when not in use;
•    installing more efficient heating, cooling, and lighting systems;
•    carpooling or using the bus and walking/cycling when appropriate; or
•    increasing your recycling habits

No change is too small! Take this opportunity to be responsible and aware—we will all be much better off for it in the long run.
